Cancer and genetics talk set for May 12

On Monday, May 12, at 4 p.m., Olympic Medical Cancer Center and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance will present “Oncology Genetics 101,” an educational discussion on the relationship between genes and cancer by Robin L. Bennett, senior genetic counselor and co-director of the UWMC Genetic Medicine Clinics.

The event is free and open to the public. RSVP to 683-9895 by May 8 if interested in attending.

Heart, lung education comes to OMC

OMC’s Cardiac Services Department presents free heart and lung health education in May in Port Angeles at the hospital, 939 Caroline St.; and in Sequim at 840 N. Fifth Ave.

All sessions are noon-1 p.m.

Olympic Medical Cancer Center, 844 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim, offers several cancer support groups in May.

1-3 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, Women’s Cancer Support Group, OMCC library second and fourth Tuesday of the month, drop in group.

1-2:30 p.m. Monday, May 19, Look Good, Feel Better, OMCC conference room, third Monday of the month; Program: Skin and hair care during cancer treatment. Attendees must register by calling the patient navigator at 582-2845.

1-3 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, Women’s Cancer Support Group, OMCC library second and fourth Tuesday of the month, drop in group.
