Health & Wellness Clinic board elected

Dungeness Valley Health & Wellness Clinic, known as Sequim’s "free clinic," elected its officers for 2009 at its annual meeting on Dec. 4.

Margaret Preston was named president of the board. Preston, a registered nurse, has experience in the area’s free clinics and is active in the National Association of Free Clinics.

The board also includes Tom Montgomery, vice-president; Kathy Schreiner, secretary; and Nita Rebook, treasurer. Other board members include John Beitzel, retiring president; Eric Lewis, Audrey Gift, Jan Gannett and Bill Sell-Lee.

Founder Mary Griffith retires from the board after many years of building the work of the clinic.

Jamie Goodwin is the clinic’s director at its new facility at 777 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim, in the

Sequim Medical Plaza.

The Dungeness Valley Health & Wellness Clinic, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, provides free health care to uninsured and underinsured community members and is staffed by volunteer physicians and other health providers. Donors can reach Leslie Lauren, the clinic’s development director, at 582-0218.

Supported by a group of volunteers and donors, programs include wellness education and chronic health care services in addition to primary care. The clinic is open to patients on Monday and Thursday evenings beginning at 5 p.m.
