For six weeks, teachers Stephanie Grotzke Nash (kindergarten) and Rachel Oden (fifth grade) held art club each Tuesday after school. Participating students from their classes studied a different artist each week and replicated a piece of art based on that artist’s work.
For the week the children studied Michelangelo, they lay on their backs and painted on paper taped to the underside of a table to experience what it was like to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in the 15th century.
The culmination of art club was an exhibit of paintings and sculptures in the Haller library after school on June 3.
This was the third Aspiring Artists & Promising Painters Art Show.
