Helen Haller Elementary to host fundraising Turkey Trot

Helen Haller Elementary School’s annual Turkey Trot, the name of the school’s annual Cougar Fun Run fundraiser, is set for Wednesday, Nov. 21, during school hours.

Students run in two groups: pre-kindergarten through second grade participates from 8:30-9:30 a.m. while third-, fourth- and fifth-graders participate from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Each group will walk the Sequim School District to track, then run, walk, skip, limbo, dance or trot the track for 30 minutes (water, snacks are provided).

Students are asked to collect donations to support their school; donations go to the Helen Haller Parent-Teacher Organization to fund the “Six Books for Summer” reading program and to buy a rock-climbing wall for the school.

The goal is to raise $23,600, or about $40 per student, event organizers say.

Donations can be made online at www.thegetmovincrew.com; participants can share their student’s pledges with friends and family through email, facebook, twitter, etc.

The student who raises the most in donations gets a special treat: a ride in a fire truck (grades pre-K to 2) or a limousine (grades 3-5). The second-highest earners get a family pass to Olympic Game Farm (pre-K to 2) or family pack of movie passes to Deer Park Cinemas (grades 3-5).
