Help restore salmon habitat at Discovery Bay

The North Olympic Salmon Coalition (NOSC) is seeking volunteers to plant native trees and shrubs near Discovery Bay in effort to restore salmon habitat from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8.

At this family friendly work party, volunteers are needed to plant native trees and shrubs to help fill in former student planting sites. Tools and gloves will be available but are in limited supply. Bring warm, waterproof clothes and boots, water and a lunch. Snacks, tea and coffee will be provided.

The planting site is a part of a 10-plus year project that includes a creek re-meander, engineered log jams and estuarine restoration. The coalition brings middle school students to the WDFW Wildlife Area as a part of the year-long outdoor education program, Real Learning Real Work.
