HS band and choir perform well at All-State competition

For the size of their city, Sequim High School’s band and choir held their own April 24-25 against some of the biggest schools in Washington.

Competing in the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association’s All-State Solo and Ensemble competition in Ellensburg, the band sent 22 and 16 choir students.

"It was the largest representation from Sequim High School since I have been here," said Vern Fosket, band director said.

Students competed with 21 other school districts from around the state, many much larger than

Sequim in student population size.

Fosket said the band and choir probably were the largest representation from a school of its size, too.

Students qualified for their events at the regional competition in February in Port Angeles.

Both Fosket and choir director Stephanie Clark were pleased with the results.

"For them to do this well was amazing," Fosket said. "It was the most consistent with the amount of kids we’ve sent."
