The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society’s annual dinner and auction, Meowgaritas and Mutts, will be from 5-10 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at the Vern Burton Community Center, 308 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
This is the fifth anniversary of the event, which has raised more than $300,000 over the past four years.
Funds have been used to benefit the animals cared for at the Humane Society.
This year’s event will feature dinner catered by Little Devil’s Lunch Box along with a variety of one-of-a-kind items in both the silent and live auctions. Individual seats are $50, a table of eight is $400 and can be purchased by calling the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society at 457-8206.
Among the items in this year’s live auction is “Three Amigos” by George Rodrigue, an artist famous for his Blue Dog series of paintings. “Three Amigos” is a silkscreen print only available through the George Rodrigue Foundation to nonprofits looking to raise money for their charity. This print cannot be purchased at any gallery and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a special gallery stamp. It has been beautifully matted and framed.
The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society has maintained an active presence in the community since 1947. OPHS shelters and cares for animals of all types. A private, nonprofit corporation, OPHS is financed primarily by private donations and gifts. No animals are turned away and annually approximately 1,500 animals pass through the doors of the facility. For more information or to volunteer, call the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society at 457-8206.
