Terry Ryan, center, with officials of the Japanese Animal Hospital Association.
Terry Ryan, president and founder of Legacy Canine Behavior and Training in Sequim, was honored in Tokyo by the Japanese Animal Hospital Association for her 20 years of service to humane dog training practices in Japan.
Invited by the association to create a national accreditation program for reward-based pet dog training instructors, Ryan traveled to many Japanese cities over the years to conduct training. The resulting program provides certified pet dog trainers throughout Japan and is used as a model for other training organizations throughout Asia.
