After a brief manhunt April 11, Clallam County deputies arrested Nikolai Logan for his suspected assault of a 60-year-old Clallam County resident.
That night, Logan got into an argument with Douglas Baker while at Baker’s house on Ripplebrook Drive off Deer Park Road. According to Deputy John Keegan, Logan was a friend of the Baker family and was staying with them while he attended the welding program at Peninsula College. According to Keegan, Logan and Baker got into an argument after Baker asked Logan for help around the house. During the argument, Logan is suspected of stabbing Baker with a 6-inch kitchen knife and fleeing the scene.
Deputies responded to the call at 7:30 p.m. and had Baker transported to Olympic Medical Center, where he was treated for his injuries and released. Deputies then began a five-hour manhunt for Logan which “saturated” the area with officers from Port Angeles, Clallam County, Border Patrol and Washington State Patrol.
After receiving numerous reports of sightings from locals, officers located Logan walking along Deer Park Road. They attribute part of Logan’s capture to the new Clallam County Alert System, which provides residents with news updates about crimes in their area.
