KSQM sets drive for funds

KSQM FM (91.5), Sequim's community radio station, holds its first on-air pledge drive Oct. 3-11. This pledge drive will help keep the station running throughout 2010.

KSQM FM (91.5), Sequim’s community radio station, holds its first on-air pledge drive Oct. 3-11. This pledge drive will help keep the station running throughout 2010.

Listeners can phone in a pledge to 681-0000, donate online at www.KSQMFM.com, mail a check to P.O. Box 723, Sequim, WA 98382, or bring a donation to the KSQM office at 577 W. Washington St., Sequim. Those visiting the station will be offered a tour of the studio.

KSQM plays the music of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s 24 hours a day and broadcasts its own locally produced shows. KSQM also airs weather information, ferry schedules, road reports, power outages, public service announcements and items of community interest. KSQM is a vital link in the emergency alert system (EAS). The station is heard online throughout the U.S. and more than 110 other countries.

KSQM began daily broadcasting in December 2008 as a service of Sequim Community Broadcasting, an independent, noncommercial, 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization, allowing donations to be tax deductible. The station is staffed by volunteers and funded by donations, fundraising efforts and business underwriting. The projected expenses for 2010 are $64,000.
