Ethan Wayne, son of celebrated actor John Wayne, has been invited to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, Nov, 8.
Sequim Community Broadcasting, owner of Radio KSQM 91.5FM in Sequim, announces it will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its newly completed broadcast tower and complex located on Blue Mountain, at 1 p.m. Friday Nov. 8. Along with Wayne, mayors from Sequim and Port Angeles, Congressional representatives, county commissioners, police and emergency officials have been invited to attend. Also, the famed animated television character Gumby will make a cameo appearance to help “flip the power switch” at the new facility.
“We’re overjoyed to be able to introduce our new broadcast facility to the public and those who helped bring this project to completion,” said Bob Schilling, KSQM general manager.
The new John Wayne Memorial Transmission Facility will increase the non-commercial radio’s reach throughout the North Olympic Peninsula, as well as the San Juan Islands, the I-5 corridor and into Victoria, British Columbia.
Also of note, Readers Theatre Plus presented a check for $11,000 to KSQM on Oct. 29, from its recent presentation of “A Century of Sequim” stories. All proceeds from the event were dedicated to KSQM.
