A multi-agency law enforcement effort in Clallam County has led to two arrests and the seizure of drugs and more than $10,000 in cash.

About one week ago, Port Angeles Police Department officers discovered evidence that David Barney, 27, was selling heroin in Clallam County. Barney, who had warrants for his arrest, was arrested early in the morning of Sept. 7 near Blyn by deputies of the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.

A search of Barney’s motel room yielded a second warrant arrest when deputies apprehended 25-year-old Port Angeles resident Marie J. Haller; Haller had a local felony bench warrant for her arrest.

A search of the motel room yielded more than 61 grams of suspected heroin, more than eight grams of suspected methamphetamine and more than $10,000, according to law enforcement officials. Prices for heroin locally can be as much as $140 a gram, they said.

The arrests were made possible with teamwork and information-sharing between Sequim and Port Angeles police departments and Clallam County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
