Library honors slogan author

Susan Pennington of Sequim has won the North Olympic Library System's first slogan contest.

Susan Pennington of Sequim has won the North Olympic Library System’s first slogan contest.

Pennington’s winning entry says, "Libraries … Expanding our world, Enriching our lives."

Paula Barnes, NOLS director, said Pennington’s slogan would represent the four libraries for now, with no date planned for another contest.

The contest started in May with more than 150 participants entering slogans of 16 or fewer words reflecting the value of libraries in communities.

Jim Roberts, board member for the North Olympic Library System, and Lauren Dahlgren, Sequim branch manager, presented a T-shirt to Pennington commemorating her winning.

The slogan is featured on shirts that are for sale at the NOLS branches in Sequim, Port Angeles, Forks and Clallam Bay.

They cost $9 in sizes small to extra-large, and come in green, yellow, gray, blue and purple.

Sales go back to each Friends of the Library chapter to support to its children’s programs and book and media collection.
