Richard and Liz Parks stand by their new business venture. Submitted photo
Liz Parks’ motto is “Everyone wins.”
She is very excited about starting a new venture. She and her husband, Richard Parks, are buying the Re/Max real estate agency at 560 N. Fifth Ave., and Liz will be the designated broker.
On April 1, Mike and Carrie Millet will hand over the agency that they brought to Sequim. The agency will not close during the transition, but the large white house across the street at 593 N. Fifth Ave., which also has been part of the Re/Max agency, will be closed.
Parks jokingly says of their taking over, “We aren’t coming to this after being greeters at Walmart!”
Escaped Florida heat
Liz has been a real estate agent for eight years and with Re/Max since 2007. Richard, who owns Peninsula Properties, is a silent partner in the business. He has been in real estate for more than 30 years, and they have worked together for 27 years. The couple moved here from Florida, where Liz was office manager for their business.
Richard was born and raised in Seattle so they often vacationed in the area. They moved to Sequim to get away from the Florida heat and to escape the rain in other parts of Washington.
Parks plans to have more agents and to create a building designed for selling real estate. She is very proud of the agents who work at Re/Max, saying they have the highest sales per agent on the peninsula. The agents must take continuing classes in real estate to stay with the national Re/Max company.
Colleen McAleer, who will remain with the agency, is the only CCIM agent on the peninsula, which means she has advanced training in working with commercial properties. Parks has advanced training in working with distressed properties.
Agents who will be at Re/Max are:
_ Team McAleer, including Mike McAleer, E. Michael McAleer, Colleen McAleer and Jackie Ansotegui.
_ Trisha Cobb
_ David Kruth
_ Liz Parks
