The Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church’s group Men’s OutReach Endeavor, or MORE, is hoping to raise both money and hope with a raffle of a 16-foot, 9-inch Redfish Custom Kayak.

The raffle is to raise funds for local charities.

Tickets are $10 each with a maximum of 1,000 sold.

The raffle drawing is slated for Aug. 15 – or earlier, if all raffle tickets sell, at the Lutheran church. Raffle ticket buyers do not need to be present to win the kayak.

The cedar strip kayak took more than 400 hours to build, men’s group members say, and was put together between November 2008-April 2009.

Dubbed "The Spring Run," the kayak weighs 36-40 pounds.

Founded in 1999, the men’s group provides Christian fellowship and camaraderie for the men of the Lutheran church while giving support for those in need in and around the Sequim community. The group meets at 8:30 a.m. each Monday morning at the SunLand Golf Club coffee shop.
