The Museum & Arts Center in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley has hired Lynn Elliott as its new exhibit center manager.
Elliott will oversee the volunteer docents who staff the facility at 175 W. Cedar St. in Sequim and will manage volunteer recruitment.
She succeeds former manager Terri Pugsley, who resigned from the part-time position.
“I like working with the public, especially in our town. You get to know so many people,” Elliott said. “I’m looking forward to this exciting new adventure and bringing in as many people as possible to the MAC and building the membership and volunteer base because it’s so worthwhile to our community to keep it going.”
Elliott, who has a strong customer service background and spent 17 years in banking, also is employed part-time as the administrative assistant of the Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce. Elliott will maintain that position in addition to being the MAC Exhibit Center manager.
“Lynn Elliott brings with her extensive experience in banking and finance and working in not-for-profit, public benefit organizations, such as the chamber of commerce,” MAC Executive Director DJ Bassett said. “She also has an effervescent and always positive, forward-thinking personality and style.”
Elliott’s first day is today, March 23.

Natural disaster response discussion on tap
American Red Cross disaster nurse Shirley Williams will discuss disaster response and emergency preparedness from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, March 27, at the Dungeness Schoolhouse, 2781 Towne Road, Sequim.
In light of the recent natural disaster in Japan, Williams also will update attendees on the latest information the American Red Cross has about the disaster during this presentation organized by MAC. In addition, she will discuss her experiences in disaster response over the past decade, including to such events as 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina.
Admission is $5 for MAC members and $8 for nonmembers. Registration is not required and payment (cash, check, Visa or MasterCard) will be collected at the door.
This presentation is one of several programs offered by the MAC at the Dungeness Schoolhouse throughout March in observance of Women’s History Month.
Fundraiser tickets are available
Tickets are now on sale for the MAC Nite Dinner Auction, the primary annual fundraiser for the Museum & Arts Center in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley.
MAC Nite is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Sunland Golf and Country Club, 109 Hilltop Drive, Sequim.
The event includes a catered dinner, live music and a silent and live auction.
Tickets are $65 per person and $650 for a corporate table seating eight. Tickets can be purchased at the MAC Exhibit Center, 175 W. Cedar St. in Sequim.
