Nelson Boyd attorneys Deborah Nelson and Jeff Boyd donated a check for $1,000 to the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society in response to a successful social media campaign they launched on Facebook earlier this month.

The campaign encouraged followers to help the Nelson Boyd attorneys raise money for OPHS by publicly sharing a post about the Humane Society’s goal to fundraise for a new shelter.

For every share of the post, the attorneys would donate $5 toward the new facility project.

Through the power of social media and the goodwill of pet-lovers, the post quickly went viral garnering over 300 shares to help the lawyers reach their goal of $1,000 in less than three hours.

As a former board member of OPHS and adoptive parent to an OPHS dog, Nelson wanted to support the shelter this holiday season.

The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society building project is a $1.4 million project which includes the construction of a dog kennel building, remodeling of existing structures on the property for use as cat adoption, veterinary services and administration.

To date, OPHS has raised over $1 million. The new site is 9 acres with beautiful walking trails already cut into a towering stand of trees.
