Western Washington University student John Richard Bash, son of Michele and Richard Bash of Sequim and spouse of Elie Hartman, has accepted a $1,000 Settlemyre Scholarship in Fine and Performing Arts for the 2014-2015 academic year.

Bash graduated from Sequim High School in 2008 and is expected to graduate from Western in 2015 with a master’s degree in music composition. Bash has served as a graduate school teaching assistant and has professional goals to compose music for video games, films and the concert hall.
