On Feb. 10, Soroptimist International of Sequim honored Lisette Garcia and Serena Morales from Sequim High School as Girl of the Month for January and February, respectively.
Garcia has been in student government during all four years at Sequim High School. She currently serves as the senior class president and is responsible for planning events like senior prom, graduation and eventually class reunions.
She also belongs to the International Club and Honors Society. In the community, she assists with Sunday school at Dungeness Community Church, specifically with the 4- to 5-year-old group.
Next year, she plans to attend Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, Calif., where she hopes to major in fashion merchandising and minor in nonprofit management.
Morales is a senior at Sequim High School and has been engaged in extracurricular activities since her freshman year.
She played junior varsity soccer, her favorite sport, for two years. At 16, she enrolled in hair school, pursuing her passion, and completed the program, which included more than 1,850 hours of study.
Now she is finishing the tasks needed to obtain her cosmetology license while she works part time at the Old Mill Café.
