Milestone: Henningers celebrate No. 25

Ray and Ann Henninger (nee Trebon) celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on July 27.

The couple was married July 27, 1991, in Tacoma.

Ray was raised in Oak Harbor and Ann is a Seattle native. They met in the summer of 1987 during summer session classes at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, Ann attended nursing school at Saint Louis University while Ray pursued his master’s degree in physical therapy at UPS. After graduating, the couple married.

The couple settled in Seattle, where Ann was a registered nurse in the Infant Intensive Care Unit at Seattle Children’s Hospital and Ray was a spinal cord injury and geriatric physical therapist with the Seattle VA Medical Center. Their first two children were born in Seattle. The family moved to Sequim in June 1996 and grew their family to include seven living children: Ean, Vancouver, B.C.; Erin, Bismarck, N.D.; Kate, Bellingham; Claire, Aidan, Jack and Joseph of the family home. Predeceased children are Kelly, Tess, Loren, Fiona, Gianna, Sara Noel and Henry. The couple served as licensed foster parents for nine years, fostering 13 children in long-term placements, and are involved in their community and Catholic parish.

To celebrate their 25th anniversary, they took a cruise to Alaska together in June and vacationed with their children at Lake Chelan in July. The couple will reaffirm their marriage commitment at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in August.
