Morgan Carl and Stephen DeVoe have been named to the 2015 All-Washington Academic Team from Peninsula College.
They will be honored in a special ceremony March 26 at South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia. The annual ceremony recognizes top scholars from community and technical colleges across the state. The award is given to students for scholastic achievement and service to their communities and colleges.
Carl, 28, was born and raised in Sequim. Carl began prerequisites for the nursing program at Peninsula College in the spring of 2014 and plans on entering the nursing program at Peninsula College in the fall of 2015. He maintains a 4.0 grade-point average.
He also volunteers his time by providing instruction at Olympic Peninsula Academy, a school where his children attend.
Carl also is involved with youth mentorship through a local outdoor educational program and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa.
DeVoe, 36, was born in Seattle and grew up in Woodinville. He completed degrees at Whatcom Community College and Western Washington University before joining the Peace Corps serving in Guinea, West Africa.
DeVoe is pursuing a master’s degree in mental health counseling from the University of Vermont. DeVoe finished prerequisites for medical school at Peninsula College and is the Associated Student Council president.
