Cailey Stipe, a senior at Sequim High School, recently was recognized as the Sequim Sunrise Rotary’s February Student of the Month.

Stipe is pictured here with SHS teacher Michelle Mahitka, who nominated the student for the honor.

Mahitka, who teaches Stipe’s floral and personal finance class at Sequim High School, told the Rotary Club what a positive influence Stipe is to other students.

Stipe said her favorite class is her floral class. In her free time, she likes to be with her friends and family and play with her puppy. She also plays fastpitch softball.

Her future plans are to move to California and live with her grandparents and study to be a radiologist and X-ray technician.

Stipe has lived in Sequim for 18 years and has two younger brothers, Joseph and Billy. She was accompanied to the meeting by her mother Cheryl Stipe, her aunt Kim Smolinsky and Kim’s husband, Bryan Smolinsky.
