Volunteer Hospice founder honored

On June 17, friends of Rose Crumb honored her years of service and dedication to the community with the installation of a plaque at Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County. Crumb established the peninsula’s first hospice program in 1978. The mother of 10, she was initially the sole provider of services including hospice nursing, counseling, administration and community outreach. In the early years Crumb held garage sales to fund services and equipment. She donated her time, expertise and love of community openly to anyone requesting assistance. Before she retired in 2009, she grew her one-person mission into a community organization that includes hundreds of volunteers serving Clallam County families in their times of greatest need.
