The Music Live with Lunch concert series at St. Luke’s Church in Sequim starts Sept. 16 with Linda Bach, soprano, accompanied by Helen Lauritzen, piano.

Bach has sung a wide variety of music from oratorios to opera, has soloed with the Port Townsend Community Orchestra and sings with the choral ensemble RainShadow.

Lauritzen earned a Bachelor of Arts in music from Stanford University and has taught in public schools, directed various choirs and played in chamber music groups as well as serving as accompanist for many local singers and instrumentalists.

This series offers half-hour concerts followed by a lunch prepared by members of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.

It is an outreach of St. Luke’s to the Sequim community, particularly to those who would like a different sort of "lunch break" and those who would like to attend concerts but are unable to drive long distances or at night.

All performers volunteer their services and a portion of the proceeds of the concert series is given to charities and as scholarships to local students.

The concerts are the third Tuesday of the month from noon-1 p.m. in the church at 525 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim.

Concerts start at noon, followed by lunch at 12:30 p.m. in the parish hall.

The series of eight concerts runs from September to May, except December, and features performers on many different instruments as well as vocalists.

This year’s performers are: Linda Bach and Helen Lauritzen, Sept. 16; Peninsula College professor and Port Angeles Symphony principal cellist Fred Thompson and Peninsula College music instructor David Jones, piano, Oct. 21; Port Angeles High School Chamber Orchestra, Nov. 18; Paul Roy, organist and choirmaster at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church on Bainbridge Island; Dennis Crabb, recorder, head of the music department at Peninsula College, teacher and choral director, Feb. 17; students from the Sequim High School wind ensemble, with director Vern Fosket; a musician to be announced, April 21; and Denny Secord and Friends, May 19.

The ticket price for the series of eight concerts and lunches is $50.

Single tickets are $10 at the door, $9 if purchased by the Thursday before the concert. Concert-only tickets for $32 for the series or $6 for a single ticket will be available. Tickets may be purchased at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 535 Fifth Ave., 683-4862.
