New ballot drop boxes comes to Carlsborg

Three new official ballot drop boxes have opened across Clallam County and a fourth drop box is slated to open tentatively on Wednesday, Oct. 31, in time to serve voters for this year’s Nov. 6 general election.

The fourth, located next to Sunny Farms Country Store at 261461 US Highway 101 in Carlsborg, will allow for driver’s side drop-off and will be accessed off Mill Road.

The three new boxes are in Clallam Bay, Neah Bay and Sekiu. They join three others already in operation prior to this year’s election: the Sequim Village Shopping Center, the Clallam County Courthouse in Port Angeles and just outside Forks City Hall.

“We are truly grateful to our community partners who made it possible to provide the ballot drop boxes to voters,” Clallam County Auditor Shoona Riggs said. “Offering new drop boxes in the county involved setting up new partnerships with property owners who provided space for the boxes and training workers who will provide secure delivery of the ballots.”

Voters may alternatively return their ballots by postal mail. No stamp is needed, but a valid postmark on or before Election Day ensures the ballot is counted.

If voters are returning their ballots by mail, auditor’s office representatives encourage mailing by Friday, Nov. 2, in order to be sure it’s postmarked in time. Otherwise, voters are encouraged to use an official ballot drop box, which is open extended hours Nov. 6 for Election Night, when all official ballot drop boxes will close at 8 p.m.
