News: Open house slated on city pump project

The City of Sequim Public Works Department invites the public to an informational open house from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, at the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St., to learn more about the upcoming Fifth Avenue and McCurdy Street Water System Booster Station project slated to begin construction this summer.

The Fifth Avenue and McCurdy Street Booster Pump Station project includes the replacement of an existing 10-hp booster pump, which is near the end of its useful life, with a new pump. The project also includes the installation of an additional 10-hp booster pump, a back-up generator and a building to house electrical and communication systems.

The station provides a critical link between the city’s main well field, located at Port Williams, and the higher elevated reservoir in the city. The new pumps will provide reliable pumping and the capacity to meet the maximum daily demand for the areas upstream of the booster station.
