District 3 firefighters said there were no injuries in a fire that badly damaged one half of a duplex just east of Carlsborg Wednesday evening.

A duplex off of My Way erupted in flames at about 6 p.m. Firefighters responded and quelled the flames in 20 minutes.

Early reports had one person inside the duplex but upon arrival all persons inside the home safely evacuated the home, assistant chief Ben Andrews said.

However, four pets were unaccounted a half-hour after firefighters had the blaze controlled.
The half of the duplex to the west was unharmed besides some firefighter efforts to vent the structure, Andrews said.

There was no cause of fire determined as of early Wednesday evening, said Bob Rhoads, district public information officer.

Crew in three engines, one aid car and one tender truck responded to the fire.
