The Board of Directors of the North Olympic Salmon Coalition has elected officers for the coming year. They are Jim Pearson, chair; Brian Roe, vice chair; Terry Sweeney, treasurer; and Jean Erreca, secretary.

Other board members include Katherine Baril, Andy Brastad, Scott Chitwood, Kathryrn Neal, Anita Schumker and Richard Wojt. Neal is a new member of the board. She is a native of Port Angeles and a civil engineer with expertise in habitat restoration and public works projects.

The North Olympic Salmon Coalition is one of 14 Regional Salmon Enhancement Groups created by Washington state. It is a community-based, nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote robust wild salmon stocks for families, fishers and local economies through habitat restoration and education. It serves the North Olympic Peninsula from the Hood Canal Bridge to Cape Flattery. The Salmon Coalition partners with local landowners and communities, state and federal agencies, local and tribal governments, and land trusts across the North Olympic Peninsula.

The Salmon Coalition also partners with the Port Townsend, Chimacum and Clallam Bay school districts through its Real Learning, Real Work Program. Middle school students in the program work with teachers, Coalition staff and volunteers to learn about the science and practice of salmon habitat restoration both in the classroom and through hands-on work at actual restoration sites.
