Eugene E. Eddy
A service has been held for Port Angeles resident Eugene E. Eddy, who died Nov. 9, 2008, at the age of 72 of heart disease.
He was born Nov. 21, 1935, in Apache, Okla., to Everett and Nettie Gowan Eddy.
He served in the Army from 1956-1958 in Nellingen, Germany. He married Helen Johnson in 1960 in Los Angeles, Calif. She preceded him in death in 1987.
Mr. Eddy worked in the aerospace industry in Southern California before moving to the North Olympic Peninsula in 1995. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in San Juan, Texas, and counted Bible study, woodworking and painting among his interests, as well as outdoor activities and cooking.
He is survived by his daughter Katy Eastwood of Port Angeles, daughter and son-in-law Rachel and Sam McKay of Sequim and 10 grandchildren.
A grandson born Nov. 16, 2008, was named Levi Eugene in his honor.
Dorothy C. Rusnell
No service has been reported for Port Angeles resident Dorothy C. Rusnell, who died Dec. 7, 2008, at the age of 90.
She was born April 18, 1918, in Port Angeles to Samuel Lee, member of a pioneer family, and Vern C. Mossberger Boyd.
She married William C. Rusnell in 1939 in Port Angeles. He preceded her in death in 1982.
She was a very loving housewife who loved camping and vacation treks with her nature-loving family. She was known for her home baking and also enjoyed Western movies. A cousin of actor William "Hopalong Cassidy" Boyd, she liked Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse.
She enjoyed needlepoint and was an expert at sewing. She and her husband built their dream house together. She was a member of Western Methodist Church.
She is survived by her sons Thomas and Dennis Rusnell and daughter Charlene Rusnell, all of Port Angeles; brothers Arley, Cleo, Orville, Oliver and Jess Boyd; sisters Hazel, Lorsie, Goldie and Violet; and numerous cousins.

Ruth Victoria Kirkman
A service for Port Angeles resident Ruth Victoria Kirkman will be held in Seattle at a later date. Mrs. Kirkman died Dec. 9, 2008, at the age of 83.
She was born Nov. 22, 1925, in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, to William and Katherine Bertha Neidlinger Rogers.
She married Millard Elon Kirkman on April 19, 1952, in Sherman Oaks, Calif. He preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 1961.
Mrs. Kirkman studied at Royal Jubilee Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse in Honolulu, Hawaii, and also in Olympia, Mercer Island, Seattle and Port Angeles. She loved hiking and the outdoors and became a naturalist while living on the peninsula. She also loved playing pickleball and baseball. She was a member of the Mountaineers Club in Seattle.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Robin and Campbell Kirkman of Port Angeles and son Phillip Kirkman of Anchorage, Alaska; daughter and son-in-law Polly and Mike Burson of Marietta, Ga.; sisters Louisa Whitehead of Nelson, British Columbia, Canada, and Ethel Bradley of Orillia, Ontario, Canada; and four grandchildren.

Sue Elaine Taylor
No service has been reported for Port Angeles resident Sue Elaine Taylor, who died Dec. 5, 2008, at the age of 69 of cardiac arrest.
She was born Jan. 1, 1939, in Columbus, Ohio, to George and Mabel Reinholdt Colelough.
She married David Franklin Taylor on Nov. 26, 1982, in Yuma, Ariz. Mrs. Taylor was a bookkeeper and tax preparer for companies in California and Washington.
Her other interests included camping at the Elwha River, gardening and cooking. She was a member of Sequim Moose Lodge and Sequim Elks.
She is survived by her husband David Taylor of Port Angeles; sons Greg Williams of California, Kenneth Pulsifer of California, and David Taylor of Nevada; daughters Julie Pulsifer of Arizona and Cindy Taylor of Nevada; sister Joanne Colelough of Arizona; and a grandchild.

Brian T. McSorley
A memorial service has been held for Sequim resident Brian T. McSorley, who died Dec. 6, 2008, at the age of 70 of cancer.
He was born March 21, 1938, in Elizabeth, N.J., to Francis "Frank" and Mary McDarby McSorley.
He married Vivian A. Hawkins on July 19, 1970, in Reno, Nev. Mr.
McSorley earned an Associate of Arts degree. He served in the United States Air Force as a tech sergeant for 16 years. He worked in real estate, mortgage lending and notary service and loved reading and singing. He was a member of Kiwanis International.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian A. McSorley of Sequim; sons and daughters-in-law Tim McSorley of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; Mark and Becca McSorley of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; Richard and Norine Stout of Hillsboro, Ore.; Gary and Pam Stout of Fairview, Texas; and Steve and Loretta Stout of Atwater, Calif.; daughters and sons-in-law Laurie and Ted Smith of Escondido, Calif.; Doreen and Kevin Pettipas of Medford, Ore.; and Debbie and Tim Green of Oceanside, Calif.; stepmother Marie McSorley of Toms River, N.J.; brother Donald McSorley of New Jersey; sisters Doris Panella of Yardville, N.J. and Karen Quaranta of Jackson, N.J.; 21 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Al Fallon Hill
No service has been reported for Port Angeles resident Al Fallon Hill, who died Dec. 8, 2008, at the age of 71 of Parkinson’s disease.
He was born Oct. 19, 1937, in Roxboro, N.C., to Fallon and Betty Clayton Hill.
He served six years in the United States Army Intelligence Service. He was honorably discharged in 1966. He served in South Korea and at the Presidio Language School in Hamburg, Germany.
He met Sandra Key Phelps in Hamburg and they traveled to her hometown of Yakima where they married on Jan. 1, 1967. The Hills moved to Seattle after they married, where he studied computers. Two years later they moved into their first home, in Auburn,.
Mr. Hill worked as an information analyst/programmer/manager at Weyerhauser-Tacoma, New England Fish Co. and Airborne Freight in Seattle.
In 1979, the family moved to Port Angeles, where he became information/systems manager at ITT Rayonier for seven years. He then worked for the city of Port Angeles until poor health required him to retire.
He was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Hill of Port Angeles; sons and daughter-in-law Eric and Connie Hill and Jonathan Hill of Port Angeles; brother and sister-in-law Dan and Cheryl Hill of Freelund, Mich.; and sister and brother-in-law Darla and Earl Starling of Rocky Mountain, S.C.
He was preceded in death by his sister Felicia Wilburn.

Nancy Jean Peterson
No service has been reported for Port Angeles resident Nancy Jean Peterson, who died Dec. 13, 2008, at the age of 71.
She was born Oct. 17, 1937, in Port Townsend to Charles William and Charlotte Eleanor Sander Morris.
She graduated from Port Townsend High School in 1955, then attended Washington State University.
She married Wallace K. Peterson on Sept. 28, 1957.
A lifelong Peninsula resident, she worked 39 years in the banking industry before retiring in 1995.
She is survived by her husband, Wallace Peterson, of Port Angeles, and sons Scott Michael and Todd Kenneth Peterson.

Stephen Jon King
Sequim resident Stephen Jon King died Dec. 10, 2008, at the age of 66.
He was born Feb. 17, 1942, in New York, N.Y., to Richard and Claire Ruth Eisen King.
