Kathleen Helen

Erickson Goodwin

At her request, no public service has been planned for Port Angeles resident Kathleen Helen Erickson Goodwin, who died of liver failure on Dec. 21, 2007, at the age of 57.

She was born May 1, 1950, in Port Angeles, to Keith Richard and Dorothy Mae Ender Erickson.

Mrs. Goodwin also lived in Olympia and Kalaloch and worked as a bookkeeper.

She enjoyed knitting, reading and traveling.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Jeffry K. and Armida Goodwin of Seaside, Ore.; daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Mike Kennedy of Gig Harbor; mother Dorothy Erickson of Port Angeles; brother and sister-in-law Carl and Michelle Erickson of Port Angeles; sisters and brothers-in-law Jeanette and Randy Sanford of Port Angeles, and Marlene and Brand Garling; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Nancy Jean Huffman

A private family gathering for Nancy Jane Huffman will be held at a later date. Mrs. Huffman died of pneumonia on Dec. 23, 2007, at the age of 69.

She was born Oct. 14, 1938, in Seattle, to William Lester and Hazel Elizabeth Lock Pennington.

She graduated from Port Angeles High School in 1958.

She married William Henry Huffman in Port Angeles on Feb. 14, 1959.

Mrs. Huffman enjoyed drawing, cooking, picnicking and camping as well as spending time with family and friends.

She was a member of Bethany Pentecostal Church in Port Angeles.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by son and daughter-in-law Richard and Mary Huffman; daughter and son-in-law Jackie and Richard Hays; mother-in-law Blanche Huffman; sister and brother-in-law Jennie and Keith Vanderziel and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law Gifford B. Huffman; brother William Pennington; and sister Nelly Pennington.

Ruth Scott Schwab

No service has been reported for Sequim resident Ruth Scott Schwab, Mrs. Schwab died Dec. 1, 2007, at the age of 81.

She was born Sept. 6, 1926, in Rizal, Phillipines.

She came to the United States in 1941 and married Richard Schwab in California in 1945. Mrs. Schwab retired from Lockheed.

She moved to Sequim from Culver City, Calif., in 1980.

Reading and sewing were her hobbies.

She is survived by sisters Frances Bachleder of Santa Clarita, Calif., and Ida Gambil of Hemet, Calif.; a granddaughter and a great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Richard Schwab, and son John.

Fern Helen Raue_______ __

A service for Sequim resident Fern Helen Raue will be held in Salem, S.D. Mrs. Raue died Dec. 31, 2007, at the age of 93.

She was born Aug. 28, 1914, in Salem, S.D., to William Nelson and Cora Dick Krantz.

She married John Henry Raue on June 17, 1945, in Oakland, Calif. He preceded her in death in March 1978.

She trained as a nurse in Sioux Falls, S.D.

She worked as a registered nurse and later became a homemaker while living in Oakland, Salem and Corvallis, Ore., before moving to Sequim six months ago.

She loved playing cards, bingo and doing crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Linda and Terry Stockman of Port Angeles, and Diane and Alan Stockman of Corvallis, Ore.; sisters Sarah Kuyper of Estelline, S.D., and Opal Dick of Sioux Falls, S.D.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

George Samuel Lindley Jr.

An open house was held for Sequim resident George Samuel Lindley Jr., who died Dec. 28, 2007, at the age of 73.

He was born Nov. 20, 1934, in Glendale, Calif., to George Samuel Lindley Sr. and Corita Billington Lindley.

He married Carolyn Shroll on April 21, 1983, in Payette, Idaho.

A previous marriage to Edith McLaughthlin ended in divorce in 1982.

He was a former resident of Fruitland, Idaho, where he owned J.G. Construction.

He loved reading books, playing golf, fishing and beachcombing.

He was a member of the Elks.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Lindley of Sequim; son Jeffery Lindley of Springfield, Mo.; daughters Robyn Kellar and Corita Lindley of Baltimore, Md.; daughter and son-in-law Lisa-Anne and Lee Dorrell of Sequim; brothers and sisters-in-law Ted and Sue Lindley of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Jim and Candace Lindley of Mexico; and four grandchildren.

Myrtle Marie Weed

A celebration of life for Port Angeles resident Myrtle Marie Weed will be announced at a later date. Mrs. Weed died Dec. 26, 2007, of a stroke at the age of 87.

She was born April 1, 1920, to Herbert John Wallcott and Elinor Kathleen Rogers Ahiers.

She graduated from Port Angeles High School.

She married Harry Holland Weed in Port Angeles on Dec. 9, 1939. He preceded her in death in August 1987.

A homemaker, Mrs. Weed enjoyed reading and gardening.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Sharon and Mike Irish of Sequim and Linda and Gary Reidel of Port Angeles; brother and sister-in-law Ted and Arlene Ahiers of Port Orchard; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Marilyn Jean Erdmann

A memorial service was held for Port Angeles resident Marilyn Jean Erdmann, who died

Jan. 1, 2008, at the age of 76.

She was born Feb. 6, 1931, in Port Angeles, to Ferdinand William and Sarah Minnetta Franklin Schlager.

She graduated from Port Angeles High School.

She married Raymond Erdmann on July 9, 1949, in Port Angeles. He preceded her in death on June 4, 1997.

She was a member of Independent Bible Church, Christian Women’s Club, Bridge Club at the senior center and PEO.

She also was a coordinator of Senior Citizens Sunday Lunch Bunch at Independent Bible Church.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Ronald and Maria Kays Erdmann of Port Angeles; daughter Lynda Phillip Eshom of Port Angeles; mother Minnetta Howser of Port Angeles; brother and sister-in-law Franklin and Nancy Schlager of Mercer Island; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by daughter Brenda Erdmann.

Evelyn C. Maw

A gathering for Port Angeles resident Evelyn C. Maw will be planned at a later date. Mrs. Maw died Jan. 2, 2008, at the age of 92.

She was born Jan. 16, 1915, in Newport, Tenn., to Horace Jefferson and Inez Jane Dukes Rowe.

She graduated from high school in Aberdeen in 1933.

She married Eugene Walter Maw on Feb. 25, 1937, in Montesano. He preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 2005.

Mrs. Maw was a homemaker who lived in Aberdeen, Tacoma and Medford, Ore. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and working in her yard.

She was a member of Bethany Pentecostal Church in Port Angeles.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law Linda and Rudy Wahlsten of Port Angeles and Jere Strang of Allyn; son-in-law Andy Strang; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Russell Treat

Sequim resident Russell Treat died Jan. 1, 2008, at the age of 86.

He was born March 11, 1921, in St. Johns, New Brunswick, Canada, to Harry and Clara Belknap Treat.

He married Doris Philips.

Patricia Bloom Purser

Memorial services are pending for Sequim resident Patricia Bloom Purser, who died Jan. 2, 2008, at the age of 62 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

She was born Dec. 1, 1945, in Koo-Wee-Rup, Victoria, Australia, to Willis and Bertha Bloom.

She was married in Melbourne in 1966 and relocated to the United States a year later.

She was active in the many communities in which she lived and was always surrounded by new friends and busy with activities to help others.

Mrs. Purser dedicated her life to her family and worthy causes.

She did volunteer work for the Sequim Museum and Arts Center, Nutrition Center, Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, Runyon Readers school program, and Houston Garden Club.

A lifelong music lover, she played piano, served on the Denver Community Arts Orchestra board and volunteered for the Colorado Honor Band.

A loving mother who showed strength, bravery and concern for others, she remained upbeat throughout her illness. She showed more concern with how her death would affect others than with her own mortality.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, William Purser of Sequim; son Travis Purser of Santa Monica, Calif.; daughter Jess Purser of Kirkland; and an extended family in Australia.

Marion Hanson

At her request, no service is planned for Sequim resident Marion Hanson, who died Dec. 26, 2007, at the age of 84.

She was born May 14, 1923, in Venice, Calif., to Harry and Grace Vanbrunt Coil.

She served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II.

Mrs. Hanson worked as a watchmaker.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Hanson.

Edith ‘Louise’ Bollman

Port Angeles resident Edith "Louise" Bollman died Jan. 6, 2008.

She was born Oct. 8, 1917, in Kewanee, Ill., to J. Eugene and Edith Frances Conner Cornelious.
