Jolly Eugene Bittick
A get-together to remember Sequim resident Jolly Eugene Bittick will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Lodge, 169 E. Washington St., Sequim. Mr. Bittick died March 12, 2008, at the age of 79 of cancer.
He was born April 4, 1928, in El Dorado, Kan., to Walker F. and Clara Robert Bittick.
He married Wanda V. Savell in 1953 in Taos, N.M.
He served in the United States Navy for two years.
Mr. Bittick worked for Colorado Telephone Company and Creede Restaurant in Colorado. He also was a truck driver.
His main interests were his family and his fiddle.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Creede, Colo., and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Sequim.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda V. Bittick; son Jolly A. Bittick; daughters Belinda Jo Bittick and Lori Bittick; and brother Thurston Bittick; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Virgil ‘Virg’ Chilcott
A memorial service for Sequim resident Virgil “Virg” Chilcott will be held at 11 a.m. April 15 at Sequim View Cemetery. His nephew Greg Allen will preside. Mr. Chilcott died March 19, 2008, at the age of 77 of kidney failure.
A celebration of life follows at the Pioneer Memorial Park clubhouse in Sequim.
Mr. Chilcott was born April 13, 1930, in Wichita, Kan.

Keith Carl Hoover
A service for former Sequim resident Keith Carl Hoover will be held at a later date. Mr. Hoover died Feb. 22, 2008, at the age of 84.
He was born Feb. 17, 1924, in Blanchard, Mich., to Carl and Estelle Delamater Hoover.
He served in Germany with the United States Army during World War II, was wounded in action and was awarded the Purple Heart.
Mr. Hoover married Virginia Pinkham of Windsor, Maine, on Aug. 4, 1945, in Grand Rapids, Mich.
He worked as an electrician for General Motors Fisher Body Plant in Kalamazoo, Mich. He retired in 1987.
He settled in Sequim in 1999, after 12 years of full-time RV travel. A lifelong baseball fan, he also was a card player and a gardener.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia Hoover of Kalamazoo, Mich.; seven children and their spouses, David and Diane Hoover of Elko, Nev.; Jon and Debra Sharp Hoover of Sequim; Sharon and Stephen Francis of Portage, Mich.; Cynthia and Robert Luyendyk of Plainwell, Mich.; Vicki and Randy Hawkinson of Anacortes; Cameron Hoover of Santa Clara, Calif.; and Alison and Owen Bourass of Trenton, Mich.; sister Leatrice Flachs of Cedar Springs, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
Marvin G. Johnson
A service will be held at a later date for Port Angeles resident Marvin G. Johnson, who died March 12, 2008, at the age of 87 of Parkinson’s disease.
He was born Jan. 9, 1921, in Woodinville to Gust A. and Rachel L. Wilson.
He graduated from Bothell High School in 1939.
He married Helen Hunton in September 1941 in Seattle. They divorced in 1975.
He was a Navy machinist mate at the Bremerton Navy Shipyard.
He moved to Sequim in 1946 and became a log truck driver.
In 1963, he moved to Port Angeles where he become a log truck owner and operator until his retirement in 2002.
He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles.
He is survived by his son Gary M. Johnson of Port Angeles; daughter Sandra Johnson of Port Angeles; brother Ray E. Johnson of Oregon City, Ore.; sisters Marian L. Johnson of Tukwila and Evelyn Fry of Quartzside, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by son Larry R. Johnson.

Sidney Wayne Walker
A service has been held for Sequim resident Sidney Wayne Walker, who died March 16, 2008, at the age of 81 of cancer.
He was born May 6, 1926, in Midlothian, Texas, to Harris and Beatrice Fields Walker. He married Nancy Jean Mitchell on June 8, 1946, in Sherman Oaks, Calif.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II, with the USS Meriwether ADA203 amphibious fleet. He was a film developer in the Hollywood film industry and later owned a business building film-developing machines.
Mr. Walker dreamed of being a farmer or a baseball player, so he always played baseball or softball as a hobby and always maintained a garden. He played on Triple A softball leagues in California.
He enjoyed anything athletic was an avid fisherman and golfer.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4760 in
Sequim
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Jean Walker of Sequim; son Sidney Wayne Walker Jr. of Stockton, Calif.; daughters and son-in-law Linda and Gary David of Delhi, Calif.; and Sharon Walker of Indio, Calif.; brother Robert Glen Walker of Placerville, Calif.; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

George C. Rains Sr.
A service has been held for Port Angeles resident George C. Rains Sr., who died March 19, 2008, at the age of 93.
He was born Dec. 9, 1914, in Seattle to Osco R. and Louisa Hemenway Harris Rains. He married Fern McEwen on June 27, 1937, in Sequim. They divorced in 1975.
He was part owner/operator of Sol Duc Hot Springs; a land, timber and gravel investor and a developer of Cedar Park. Mr. Rains was a political tax activist, avid hunter and fisherman, and Gardener of the Year at the Clallam County Fair.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law George C. Jr. and Sandy Rains of Port Angeles; daughters and sons-in-law Violet and Don Kono of Redmond; Judy and Joe Miller of Arlington; and Pearl Hewett of Port Angeles; brother and sister-in-law Phil and Irene Rains of Port Angeles; sister Nona Preston of Shelton; companion E.J. Barnes of Port Angeles; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
