Donna Mae Hugo
A service for Port Angeles resident Donna Mae Hugo will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 12 at Sequim Community Church, 950 N. Fifth Ave. The Rev. Scott Koenigsaecker will preside. A reception follows the service.
Mrs. Hugo died Sept. 3, 2008, at the age of 71 of heart disease and diabetes.
She was born Feb. 27, 1937, in Portland, Ore., to Winslow Donnell and Olga Estell Winters Bailey. The family moved to the North Olympic Peninsula in 1943 and she graduated from Sequim High School in 1955.
She and James "Terry" Hugo married on March 18, 1955, in Port Angeles.
Mrs. Hugo was a small-business owner in Sequim. She was a former owner of Sunshine Cafe and Sunshine Travel. She also was president of Sequim Chamber of Commerce and Sequim Irrigation Festival committees. She was a member of Sequim Community Church, Eastern Star Lodge, Agnew Helpful Neighbors Club and JayCees.
She is survived by her husband, James Hugo of Port Angeles; daughters Kathy Pavlak and Diane Hugo, both of Port Angeles; daughter and son-in-law Tracy and Wayne Pagel of Sequim; sister Betty Stephens; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her son Michael Hugo in 1957 and sister Louise Rogers.

Dolores Fitzpatrick
A memorial service for
Sequim resident Dolores Fitzpatrick will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 4 at Sequim Bible Church, 847 N. Sequim Ave. The Rev. Steve Devine will preside.
Mrs. Fitzpatrick died Aug. 25, 2008, at the age of 79 following a fall.
She was born April 8, 1929, in Portland, Ore., to Richard and Edna Pearl Carpenter Rapsch.
She married Edward H. Fitzpatrick on Nov. 28, 1948, in Aberdeen. He preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 2006, after 58 years of marriage.
Mrs. Fitzpatrick lived in Eastern Washington for 13 years, Aberdeen for 18 years and Sequim since 1981. She was a devoted homemaker and worked at Tom-Tom Grocery and Mad Maggi Salon in Sequim for many years. She enjoyed conversation, trips to the ocean, cooking, canning food, reading and crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Les and Rebecca Fitzpatrick of Seattle; Steve Fitzpatrick of Huachuca City, Ariz.; John and Pam Fitzpatrick of Olympia; Ed Jr. and Loritha Fitzpatrick of Conway, S.C.; son-in-law Will Delahanty of Lynnwood; daughters and sons-in-law Susan Sparks of Aberdeen; Janice Fitzpatrick of Wasilla, Alaska; Barbara Stine of Lynnwood; Molly and Craig Buhler of Sequim; Rosann Fitzpatrick and Gustavo Aviles of Olympia; daughter-in-law Becky Fitzpatrick of Westport; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Les Fitzpatrick of Edmonds and Bob and Jan Fitzpatrick of Boise, Idaho; sister Jerrie Meyers of Lake Stevens; sisters-in-law Helen Gardner of Eagle River, Alaska, and Francis Fitzpatrick of Aberdeen; 23 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son David Fitzpatrick in January 2008.

Dallas Adolph Grothe
At his request, no service is planned for Port Angeles resident Dallas Adolph Grothe, who died Sept. 2, 2008, at the age of 92.
He was born March 7, 1916, in Badger, Minn., to Adolph O. and Alma E. Peterson Grothe.
He served four years in the United States Army Air Force as a staff sergeant.
He married Alice J. Tauer Grothe in June 1947 in Greenbush, Minn. Mr. Grothe farmed in Badger, Minn., until the late 1950s before moving to Cheney, where he worked as a school bus driver and then as a custodian until his retirement in 1978. He was a member of the Nazarene Church. In 2005, he and his wife moved to Port Angeles.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alice J. Grothe of Port Angeles; sons and daughters-in-law Daniel Grothe of Yuma, Ariz., Robert and Nancy Grothe of Spokane, Brent and Jan Grothe of Wenatchee; daughters and son-in-law LaNae and David Firch of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Karen Cross of Port Angeles; brother and sister-in-law The Rev. Alvin and Loretta Grothe and sister Elva Auestad, all of Astoria, Ore.; five grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
Mr. Grothe was preceded in death by a sister Constance Grothe.

Myles Robert Lammie
A service has been held for Port Angeles resident Myles Robert Lammie, who died Aug. 30, 2008, at the age of 81.
He was born Jan. 2, 1927, in Tacoma, to Miles and Lillian Wilcox Lammie.
He married Grace Clara Beissel on Oct. 8, 1958, in Port Angeles. She preceded him in death on Jan. 5, 1997.
He served in the United States Army from 1949-1952. A corporal, he was a medical technician in Korea and Japan.
Mr. Lammie worked as a store clerk at Olympic Memorial Hospital while living in Port Angeles.
He was a member of Church of the Nazarene in Port Angeles.
He is survived by his sons William Lammie and Jeff Lammie, both of Port Angeles; brother Alfred Christenson of California; sisters Ouetta Steilacom of Sequim, Margrett Guthrie of Port Angeles, Rosie Peterson and Laurine Romo, both of Shelton; and five grandchildren.

Hans K. Rosenberg
A family memorial celebration has been held for Sequim resident Hans K. Rosenberg, who died Aug. 20, 2008, at the age of 95.
He was born in 1913 in Helsinki, Finland, and earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the Finnish Technical Institute.
He married Margareta Dzeguze in 1939. She preceded him in death in 2001 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
During the Russo-Finnish Winter War of 1939-1940, he served as a captain in the Finnish Cavalry. Mr. Rosenberg and his family immigrated to the United States in 1953 and settled in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he worked for Planet Products Corporation for 32 years.
He was a longtime member of Roselawn Lutheran Church, the Cincinnati Art Club, American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Scandinavian Society.
He moved to Sequim in 2002.
He is survived by his daughters Elisabeth and Peggy; son-in-law James Champin of Sequim; brother Johan of Helsinki; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.
Marcella Pearl
Bergstresser
A funeral has been held for former Port Angeles resident Marcella Pearl Bergstresser, who died Aug. 28, 2008, at the age of 82.
She was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Burke County, N.D., to Harvey Ellsworth and Elsie Sophia Dorothea Peterson.
She married Alfred A. Bergstresser on Oct. 1, 1947, in Flaxton, N.D. A North Dakota resident until 1954, she lived in Beaver from 1954-1962, Port Angeles from 1962-2007 and Salem, Ore., since 2007.
She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Port Angeles; 4-H; the senior center; the food bank and the blood bank.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Sandra and Herbert Balch of Port Angeles; Brenda and Bob Trump and Diana and Martin Mann, all of Salem, Ore.; brothers Kenneth Haxton of Renton and Harvey Haxton of Yuma, Ariz.; sisters and brothers-in-law Velma Smith of Portal, N.D., Doris and Clarence Cron of Bowbells, N.D., Helen Enget of Powers Lake, N.D., Ruth Ann and Cloyd Hatch of Vernal, Utah, and Janice LaCoe of Bismarck, N.D.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 19 great-stepgrandchildren; and seven great-great-stepgrandchildren.
Leah Lorraine McKay
A private memorial service was held for Sequim resident Leah Lorraine McKay, who died Aug. 26, 2008, at the age of 80.
She was born March 6, 1928, in Yuba City, Calif., to Forrest and Mable Smith Green.
She grew up in Phoenix, Ariz., and moved to Ketchikan, Alaska in early 1958.
She married Eugene McKay on Oct. 3, 1958, in Ketchikan, Alaska.
She retired to Sequim in 1998. A homemaker, she enjoyed quilting and reading.
Mrs. McKay is survived by her husband, Eugene McKay of Sequim; son Fred McKay of Bellingham; daughter and son-in-law Connie and Greg Williams of Sequim; stepdaughter and son-in-law Helen and Dave Cole of Vancouver, Wash.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Ruby Bass and Dorothy Elliott.
David Creath Bryant
A service has been held for Port Angeles resident David Creath Bryant, who died Aug. 31, 2008, at the age of 78.
He was born Feb. 15, 1930, in Twin Falls, Minn., to Mark Libby and Pauline Creath Bryant.
After a year at the University of Puget Sound, he joined the Washington National Guard.
It was at this time that he met his wife, Mary Leona Carlson Bryant. They married Aug. 5, 1955. Shortly after their marriage, he felt a call for the ministry and finished his schooling at Highland College in Pasadena, Calif., and Faith Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Pa. His first church was in San Diego, Calif., where he was pastor of Bible Presbyterian Church for 10 years.
A longing for the fresh air and green trees of the Northwest began a search for a new church and Fairview Bible Church answered his call. He moved the family to Port Angeles in 1973 and was pastor there for eight years while working at ITT Rayonier. He retired from Rayonier after 20 years as a machine operator. He was instrumental in purchasing the property and building the present church building on O’Brien Road.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons and daughter-in-law Art Bryant of Port Angeles, Mark and Carol Bryant of Bellingham; and Dan Bryant of Leavenworth; daughters and sons-in-law Becky and Bo King; Laura Eyestone; Paula and Clipper Elder; and Jennifer and Kevin Denton of Port Angeles; sisters and brothers-in-law Leslie and Bill Jarmon of Tacoma and Susan and Lee Reeves of Rochester; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother Mark Dunnell Bryant.
