At the end of the Oct. 26 regular Port of Port Angeles commission meeting, port Executive Director Ken O’Hollaren announced he is leaving the position on Dec. 31.

O’Hollaren cited being closer to his grandchildren and an opportunity in the private sector as his reasons for leaving the office.

He and his wife, Denise, plan to make their new home in Clark County in 2016.

O’Hollaren joined the Port of Port Angeles as the interim executive director on Aug. 6, 2013, and then was hired by the port commission as the permanent executive director on April 1, 2014.

Port deputy director Karen Goschen will serve as the interim executive director during the transition period as the commission looks for a permanent hire.
