The OMC Foundation more than $21,000 to Olympic Medical Center and announced the gift of a house donation adjacent to the OMC campus in Port Angeles, foundation president Bruce Skinner told hospital board commissioners on Dec. 16.
The foundation is planning to present more contributions to OMC next month, Skinner said.
The foundation’s fundraising activities to (or on behalf of) Olympic Medical Center in 2020 totals almost $650,000, Skinner said.
“The community was very generous this year,” said Skinner. “We had one of our best years, even though four of our six events were held virtually, and another was cancelled.”
Bedinger is the son of Helen Rice, who passed away at 106 years old last March, after living in the house for more than 60 years.
“We moved to Port Angeles from Illinois in 1956, and lived up by the high school,” Bedinger recalled. “When the hospital offered my mom employment in the cafeteria, she wanted to be closer to work so we relocated, because she never drove and had to walk.
“Since the hospital offered my mom a job, I decided that I wanted to give the house back to them,” he continued. “I felt like it was the right thing to do.”
“We are extremely grateful for what Lloyd has done,” said Skinner. “It means a great deal to OMC.”
Those interested in more information or in making a donation are encouraged to call the OMC Foundation office at 360-417-7144 or email to bruce@omhf.org. Interested people can also mail donations to: OMC Foundation, 1015 Georgiana St., Port Angeles WA 98362.
“We hope that many local people will become a part of our fundraising effort,” OMC Foundation president Mary Hebert said.
“It’s an opportunity for people to leave a lasting legacy, and 100 percent of the monies donated will go towards Olympic Medical Center programs.”
