Now is the time to start thinking about polishing scripts.

Now is the time to start thinking about polishing scripts.

Writers are invited to submit a one-act play to Peninsula College for consideration for its fourth annual springtime Festival of Student_Directed One_Act Plays,

Drama instructor Dr. Lara Starcevich will teach a playwriting course to help bring scripts to completion and possible selection for the May 22-29 festival.

Introduction to Playwriting will meet daily from 11-11:50 a.m. starting March 30 on the Peninsula College campus at 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

Submitted plays will be reviewed by a panel of judges. Student directors then will select the play they would like to direct for their final project. In addition to submitting plays, community members may audition for acting roles or positions as directors and theater technicians.

Submission guidelines:

n The play should be no longer than 10 minutes in length, or five to 10 typewritten pages.

n The play must include the following three objects somewhere in the script: brown shoes, a vegetable peeler and rainbow_colored fish bait. They can appear anywhere once or more than once. The point is to include them in any imaginable way possible.

n There are no limitations in terms of style, genre or whether it’s a drama or comedy.

n The script should be typed, stapled and double_spaced in scene format (e.g., character name, lines of dialogue, stage directions).

n Include contact information (e.g. name, address, phone number, e-mail address).

n Submission deadline is Tuesday, April 21, to: Dr. Lara Starcevich, Speech & Drama Department, Peninsula College, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles, WA 98362_6660.
