The man lured across state lines in a Sequim Police ruse now faces eight charges in Clallam County Superior Court.

After his first appearance March 24, Aaron Hahn, 28, of Gresham, Ore., was charged with four counts of rape of a child in the third degree, sexual exploitation of a minor, possession of depictions of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct and stalking.

On his second appearance March 31, Clallam prosecutors added another charge of extortion in the second degree.

Hahn is in the Clallam County Correctional Facility on $75,000 bail after a failed attempt by his lawyer to bring his bail down to $5,000.

Hahn met the underage Sequim female online shortly after she finished eighth grade. Hahn was 25 at the time.

After time, the online relationship became personal and intimate. According to police, Hahn made several trips to Sequim to meet with the girl, often at a grocery store parking lot, and take her to a motel. Police reports indicate Hahn had sexually exploited the girl.

He purchased a cell phone for her and often sent gifts. Once the girl’s parents discovered the relationship, they tried to break it off. Hahn changed his phone number to a Sequim area code and prefix so the parents wouldn’t be able to know he was calling her from his home in Oregon.

The girl said she tried to break it off as well, but Hahn allegedly kept her with him through gifts and threatening behavior.

After four years, the girl entirely broke off the relationship. She was 17 and Hahn was 28. Hahn began sending threatening e-mails and text messages, according to police reports.

He came to Sequim after she stopped replying to his e-mails and tried to have a friend deliver a note with a flower.

The family obtained a protection order against Hahn, which he allegedly broke several times trying to contact her. The girl sought protection from Sequim Police stating she feared for her life because of a Port Angeles murder where a woman was shot by a former boyfriend who had been stalking her.

Hahn had been contacting other Sequim teens online asking them to give her messages.

Sequim Police set up a sting, luring Hahn across state lines with e-mails from a friend of the girl stating she would be in Castle Rock on March 21. Officers arrested Hahn outside a Castle Rock Texaco station and transported him to Clallam County that day. Hahn faces a status hearing May 2 and trial on May 19.
