Olympic Theatre Arts has created a new Facebook group especially for the Young Thespian program.

Initial invitees will be from the class session that was abruptly ended two weeks early because of COVID-19 precautions.

It will feature an illustrated script from the work they were rehearsing to present, said organizers with Olympic Theater Arts (OTA).

The theme of the class was Game On, featuring Shakepearean games and how those games were referenced in the writings of the Bard.

“This way, the kids can be reminded of the order of the show, become familiar with the projected images that would have been used during the show and share with their parents the content by playing the various games at home,” instructor Sarah Tucker said.

“We want to stay engaged and help out at home by providing fun theatrical activities,” she added.

In addition, OTA will post weekly monologues for young thespians to memorize with a chance to post them on the Facebook group page or tag them to be circulated nationally via the licensing house providing the content, Pioneer Drama Service.

As for adults, OTA is planning to post video of various parts of scenes that were in rehearsal to present at what was to be the upcoming Renaissance Faire fundraiser, also postponed.

“This will be a great way to stimulate interest and to keep it warm, for the actors and for the participants,” said Pete Griffin, OTA marketing and imaging manager.

OTA “is striving, during this time of uncertainty, to keep its connections to the community alive,” according to a press release.

“As everyone is hoping for the best and an expedient end to the present public health crisis, Olympic Theatre Arts remains optimistic and will be ready to jump back in when given the go ahead.
