Panel to speak about protecting water at next series lecture

The League of Women Voters’ “The Story of Water” lecture series continues next week with “Storm Water and Water Quality: What is being done to protect our water?” set for 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, in the council chambers at the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St.

Presenters for this, the sixth in the lecture series, are members of the Sequim-Dungeness Clean Water Work Group, with co-chairs Robert Knapp, Environmental Planning for the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe; Heather Watts, Water Quality Specialist for Clallam County, and Ann Soule, Resource Manager for City of Sequim.

They lead a discussion about the water quality conditions of our bays, streams, and aquifers – and the monitoring and regulatory measures to protect them.

Attendees are welcome to ask pertinent questions following the lecture.

Following the lecture and Q&A session, the “Story of Water” introductory film will be shown for those wishing to stay. “From Source to Sea: Dungeness Watershed” is a 20-minute film highlighting the beauty and dynamics of the Dungeness Watershed and the challenges for the community; questions will be welcomed.

All films and lectures listed are free and open to the public. For more details about the lecture series and links to video of past lectures, visit www.lwvcla.org/story-water.
