Peninsula College to christen new Sequim center with open house

Community residents are cordially invited to attend an open house at Peninsula College’s new Sequim Education Center from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14.

The center is at the corner of Sequim Avenue and Spruce Street; the front door opens onto Sequim Avenue.

Guests will be treated to a tour of the new facility, have the opportunity to learn more about the programs that are offered and meet college staff, faculty and administrators.

The center offers Adult Basic Education/General Educational Development/Transition Education and English as a Second Language classes throughout the academic year, allowing individuals to get immediate help in brushing up on reading, writing and math skills; learn English as a Second Language; or prepare for the GED test.

The classes are all open-entry, which means students can start their studies at any time during the quarter and fit classes around their own schedule.

Community residents who already have their high school diplomas but who wish to improve their skills in reading, writing and math in order to prepare for the job market also are encouraged to come to the center. Instruction is tailored to individual needs.

Beginning with the 2013 winter quarter, Peninsula College’s Community Education Department also will offer computer classes for community residents at the Sequim Education Center. Center hours vary by quarter. For more information, call 683-5023 or 417-6380.
