Peninsula College’s HS21+ a new way to earn a diploma

Peninsula College’s HS21+ program offers adult learners the opportunity to earn their high school diploma in as few as 10 weeks.

Peninsula College’s HS21+ program offers adult learners the opportunity to earn their high school diploma in as few as 10 weeks.

Through the Prior Learning Credit feature, students have the potential to use the knowledge they have acquired outside the classroom to earn high school credits.

To receive credit for prior learning, students work one-on-one with an instructor to develop an essay in which they document the skills and knowledge they have gained through work and life experience. Credits are awarded upon completion and instructor review of the essay.

Created with working adults and parents in mind, the program offers a number of classes online, allowing students to complete work according to their own schedule at home. For those who learn better in a classroom, the program also allows students a face-to-face instruction option. A personalized academic plan ensures students will take the necessary courses and move through the program efficiently.

Online courses include U.S. history, fine art, Washington state history, science, contemporary world problems, English, prior learning and a variety of electives.

Students may receive in-person instruction at Peninsula College locations in Sequim, Port Angeles, Forks, Port Hadlock and Neah Bay. Students must be 21 to receive their diploma but may begin working toward their diploma before turning 21.

The program is offered for $25 per quarter and financial aid is available.
