City of Sequim staff get a look at a nearly completed installation of solar panels on the roof of the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St. City Councilors unanimously agreed in June 2019 to match a Department of Commerce grant worth $75,000 toward the approximate $285,000 project to install 50 kilowatt panels. Installation started March 17 but stalled a week later when the work was declared “non-essential.” The project restarted on May 11 and was in the process of getting tied into the buidling’s system last week, Public Works Director David Garlington said. Additional energy is sold back to the Public Utility District, he said. Photo courtesy of City of Sequim
