Physicians’ fund gives scholarships

The Clallam County Physicians Community Benefit Fund announced in early March the awarding of several academic scholarships and medically related grants to be awarded in 2015.

The Clallam County Physicians Community Benefit Fund announced in early March the awarding of several academic scholarships and medically related grants to be awarded in 2015.

The benefit fund was formed in 1995 when Regence BlueShield joined with Clallam County Physicians Service, Inc., a company formed by local physicians to provide health care coverage to Clallam County residents.

Academic scholarships for $6,000 go to Elisa Reid and Kelsey Schneider. A $2,500 academic scholarship goes to Shelby Napiontek and $2,000 scholarships go to Kelvin Herzog, Kathleen Minor, Richard Putnam and Mari Yamamoto. A $1,500 scholarship goes to Alicia Gilstrom.

Grant awards go to Peninsula Behavioral Health, $5,000; Olympic Peninsula YMCA, $3,500; Roosevelt Elementary School, $1,968.55, and National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI) of Clallam County, $756.
