James Oneil Miner plays popular piano works from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 601 W. Washington St., Sequim.

The concert is free and open to the public.

Miner plays by ear and takes audience requests to imitate artists such as Liberace, Marvin Hamlish and Roger Williams.

At the age of 9, his parents told him and his twin brother that if they wanted to play baseball, they had to practice piano.

In high school, the music of Elvis Presley, Pat Boone and

Nat King Cole made piano playing fun and added a new dimension for him. In college, he formed a band for dances, social events and special occasions.

He recently received the Instrumentalist of the Year award from the World Wide Booksellers Organization.

Miner has recorded 13 albums, 12 featuring original compositions. His album "Dream With Me" includes four original compositions plus many of the world’s most loved songs.

Subsequent albums include "Dream With Me Again," "Christmas Dreaming," "Dreaming of America and "Country Dreaming." His latest album, "Dream a Little Dream," features lullabies and peaceful classics.
