Hayden James, a junior at Sequim High School, sings in both the select choir and the vocal ensemble. Throughout most of December Hayden and his peers can be found in downtown Sequim helping their parents raise funds for the school’s choir programs.

For the second year, the SHS Choir Boosters are behind the Christmas tree fundraiser previously run by Kiwanis Club of Sequim-Dungeness. In addition to Christmas trees from Lazy J Farm, wreaths, mistletoe and popcorn also are available.

The proceeds from the Christmas trees sale, which has become the Boosters board’s largest fundraiser, allow choir students to travel, cover fees and maintain uniforms.

Question 21: As a child, what did you want to be or do?

As a kid I really wanted to be an astronaut, but now I’ve decided that I want to become a professional soccer player. I’ve played soccer since I was about 4 years old.

Question 5: If you could appear as the main character in any medium, who would you be? And in what?

It’s always been a childhood dream to be Spider-Man so I would probably be the Amazing Spider-Man in the movie “The Amazing Spider-Man.” I think this comes to mind because I was raised on Spider-Man and a lot of my friends have told me I look like the main actor (Andrew Garfield) in it. It just seems like a fun character to play.

Question 23: What’s your favorite place to go on the peninsula?

I love Salt Creek, but I also like the Log Cabin Resort at Lake Crescent. I have a lot of good memories at those places.

Question 42: What’s your best or first memory of/in Sequim?

I think it’s playing at Carrie Blake Park with my mom and dad when I was really young.

Question 18: What is the first song that comes to mind when I finish this sentence?

I guess it is “Part of Me” by Katy Perry. I don’t know why, it’s just stuck in my head.

Bonus Question 1: What is your favorite tree species for a Christmas tree?

I like maple trees, but for Christmas I like firs.

Bonus Question 2: What part of the holiday season do you enjoy the most?

I think the holidays are great because I get to see my extended family. Also, the main thing is the food – it’s so good.
