Reading starts with an Arrrrgh!

Gwen Rudzinski’s second-grade students at Olympic Christian School were visited by a Mystery Reader last Friday who excitedly read a book about the life of a pirate. Throughout the year, disguised family members have shown up to read to the class. The school has hosted the Tooth Fairy, Zorro, a penguin and a grandmother who entertained and educated the students. School officials say the second-graders love this program and that it’s a great way to promote reading. A fun aspect of this program, school officials said, is that students never know who or when a mystery reader will show up. Olympic Christian School teaches pre-kindergarten through eighth grade and is accepting applications for 2013-2014 school year. The school is at 43 O’Brien Road, Port Angeles.
