Ring wins SEF film festival poster contest

Sequim High School junior Teyloure Ring is the winner of the Sequim Education Foundation’s 2008 Film Festival poster contest, as announced by festival chairwoman Elna Kawal.

Each year students are asked to design a poster to promote the annual student film festival competition. The foundation received more than a dozen entries from student artists.

“I was thrilled with the response,” Kawal said. “Every one of them would have made a wonderful poster.”

The foundation’s board of directors selected the winning poster at its January meeting.

“Miss Ring’s design was chosen because of its striking originality,” foundation president Dick Hughes said.

Ring’s winning poster will be displayed in Sequim schools and businesses and the design will be printed on T-shirts for the April 18 film festival.

Each student who entered the contest is awarded a certificate of participation. Ring received the winner’s certificate plus a $100 cash prize.

“I was completely astounded when I won,” Ring said. “I hope my poster entices more students to attend the film festival.”
