Nearly 400 classic cars and hot rods were on display July 9 for the 14th Ruddell Cruise-In.
Ruddell Auto Mall owner Howie Ruddell said the event has grown significantly since 2008 when his Hyundai lot was built allowing for more space.
He attributes the event’s success in two parts – the quality of the cars and the commitment from Old Timers Northwest Car Club out of Bremerton.
“They are the ones who bring hot rods which everyone comes to see,†Ruddell said.
“Those are the cars that make you go ‘wow.’â€
The club co-sponsors the event, which is free for people to attend and show.
“We really work hard to put on a high quality cruise in that runs smoothly,†Ruddell said.
The Cruise-In has become the largest vintage, classic and custom car show in Clallam County.
Ruddell said the event kicks off a weekend of car events in Port Angeles and he believes it helps stimulate the local economy.
He said for the 15th year he is considering moving the event to a Saturday and including a beer and wine garden.
Plaques were given for three categories.
• Best of Show: 1957 Ford Thunderbird, Dan Kalinski Sequim
• People’s Choice, 1929 Ford Model A, Bob Strohmeyer, Port Angeles
• Longest Distance Traveled, 1932 Ford 3-Window Coupe, Brent Brady, Maple Ridge, British Columbia
