On April 21, Patrick Lauerman, far right, presented about $3,000 in college scholarships to local Boy Scouts, from left, Alex Lamb, James Clardy-Olson and Robbie Blenk in Troop 1491.
The funds remained from a 2006 event in Port Hadlock commemorating the claymation character Gumby’s 50th anniversary. Lauerman is the licensing agent for Gumby and his creator Art Clokey.
All three Scouts are on track to receive their Eagle Scout rank in June.
Blenk plans to attend Washington State University to study biology. Lamb will go to the University of Washington for environmental engineering and Clardy-Olson is undecided on a specific school but plans to become a firefighter.
Lauerman said he chose the local Scouts because he knows Hank Marrero, local Boy Scouts of America charter organization representative, who mentioned the boys and their accomplishments.
He said Clokey also was fond of the Boy Scouts and their community involvement.
