Five Acre School informational meeting
Five Acre School holds a parent information meeting about the school’s Explorer Class for youths in grades 3-6 from 3:15-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at 515 Lotzgesell Road, Sequim.
The teaching staff will explain the program, share classroom goals and student expectations and answer questions about the classroom and school.
Five Acre School is a private school in its 16th year that serves preschool age children through sixth grade.

Sequim students earn WWU degrees
Shannon Courney, Wesley Magwire and Anna Wilmot, all of Sequim, graduated with degrees from Western Washington University following fall quarter 2010.
Courney graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology.
Magwire graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in geography/environmental resource management.
Wilmot graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in planning and environmental policy.
Sequim trio named to Western’s honor roll
Three Sequim-area students were named to the Western Washington University honor roll for fall quarter 2010.
They are Jon Bash, Kelly Gasparach and Jaime Muller.
Ash and Muller were recognized for achieving 4.00 grade-point averages.
To qualify for the honor roll, students must complete at least 14 graded credit-hours during a quarter and be in the top 10 percent of their class.
Sequim students make dean’s list at U.W.
Thirteen Sequim-area students were named to the dean’s list at the University of Washington for autumn quarter.
To qualify for the dean’s list, students must complete 12
graded credit hours and have a grade-point average of at least 3.50.
The Sequim students include: seniors Samuel Ryan Ketcham, Imogen Janelle Kohnert and Sarah Marie Mangiameli; juniors Drake Hunchberger Apablasa, Jay Andrew Hennen and Nicole Ranae Lock; sophomores Nicole Grace Mendoza Masangkay, Cody Fan Sokkappa, Dain Wiliam Steenberg and Alfred Graham Keihl Sundt; and freshmen Jason Michael Kowitz, Chase Madeline O’Neil and Sarah Marie Schade.
Dads, new parents tea events set
First Teacher hosts a tea for new and expecting parents from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, at the First Teacher classroom. Stop by to learn about family services, developmental screenings, the First Teacher program and more. Refreshments are served.
First Teacher also hosts a “Dad’s Ice Cream Social” from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28.
The event is to honor fathers but is open to family members and includes ice cream and games.

Grad party organizers seek donations
Organizers of the 2011 Sequim High School Senior Party are asking for donations for the June event.
The senior party is an alcohol- and substance-free event for graduating Sequim seniors after commencement ceremonies. The party includes music, contests, food, prizes, raffles, games and more.
Donations are tax-deductible.

Exchange group seeks host families for students
Representatives from World Heritage, a nonprofit student exchange program, are seeking families from the community to serve as a hosts for high school exchange students.
Host families provide room and board, plus guidance for teens living abroad. Couples and single parents, and families with and without children in the home all are encouraged to apply.
Families can host students for a semester or an entire school year.
