First Teacher hosts parent, reading events

The First Teacher classroom (Room 4W at Sequim Community School, 220 W. Alder St.) is home to a number of special times for youths and parents in September.

Monday is reading time, starting at 10:30 a.m. The final guest reader this month is Lynne Sharp on Aug. 30. First Teacher reading times next month include: Sept. 13 with Kevin Van De Wege; Sept. 20 with Vince Riccobene; and Sept. 27 with Karla Morgan.

Friday is activity time. Join in on craft time with Chase Hill on Aug. 27. Special activities in September include: Sept. 3, puzzle day at 10:30 a.m.; Sept. 10, crafts at 10:30 a.m., and; Sept. 17, Kindermusik with Carry Madison at 10 a.m.

From 10 a.m.-noon on Friday, Sept. 24, First Teacher hosts Traffic Safety Day.

SHS Flag Team opens invitation

The Sequim High School Flag Team members invite Sequim High School students to join them this year as they perform and travel with the high school band.

Flag routines combine dance choreography and movement with equipment work performed to music.

The team calendar includes a spring trip to Anaheim to perform at Disneyland, a football game in October at the University of Washington in Seattle for Husky Band Day, and various parades and other performances in the region.

Interested students are asked to attend a meeting from 9 a.m.-noon on Monday, Aug. 30, and Tuesday, Aug. 31, at the Sequim Community School gymnasium, 220 W. Alder St. Regular rehearsals begin the second week of school. For more information, call 461-3858.
